A warm welcome!

UDO JÜRGENS was born in Ottmanach near Klagenfurt, Austria, and attended the music conservatory in Klagenfurt. A large part of the UDO TRIBUTE BAND also comes from the Klagenfurt area. GERT PRIX, mastermind of the UDO TRIBUTE BAND, was also born in Klagenfurt and attended the same conservatory as the great entertainer.

Even as a child, Gert Prix played the legendary UDO hits of the sixties - then still called chansons - on the piano, much to the annoyance of his piano professor, who - as was customary at the time - drew a strict line between serious and popular music. A boundary that UDO repeatedly dissolved in his life's work and very successfully declared superfluous.

In 1980, Gert Prix and his band THREE TIGHT won Peter Rapp's Die große Chance (The Big Chance), a popular ORF talent show. Shortly afterwards, the then almost twenty-year-old joined Udo Jürgens on stage for an entire evening. Perhaps it was then that he unwittingly sparked the foundation of the UDO TRIBUTE BAND a few decades later.

The UDO TRIBUTE BAND was founded in 2011 and had the full approval of the unique artist. UDO JÜRGENS also made this known in a personal letter, a silent distinction and a great honour for the entire band.

Letter from Udo Jürgens to Gert Prix, 2011

Translation of the letter:

Dear friends,

Thank you very much, I'm
delighted to have my songs played by you,
really great.

Good luck on 13.5.
Kind regards

Your Udo Jürgens

The other members of the UDO TRIBUTE BAND, some older and some younger, have also found their personal connection to the huge repertoire of the most successful German-speaking singer's more than 50-year career over the course of their lives.

In their programme, the UDO TRIBUTE BAND respectfully and passionately present the entire spectrum of the entertainer, ranging from the largely well-known beginnings to genuine rarities and the unsurpassed classics.
